Jobs at End of an Era

Join the team transforming Estate Succession

Start Date: 1, 2026 | Duration: 3-4 months | Location: Remote

Job Description

About End of an Era

Over 3 million Americans die each year, and $84 trillion will transfer to families and nonprofits over the next 30 years. Yet most people aren’t prepared — 68% don’t have a will, and many executors spend ~570 hours sorting assets and paperwork while grieving.

End of an Era is fixing that. We’re building an AI-powered, empathetic estate planning and settlement platform that simplifies both planning and settlement — helping people organize what matters while they’re alive, and guiding families through closure when they’re gone. We believe that good design can reduce anxiety and give families confidence during grief.

We’re about to launch the Planning side and are now designing & building the Settlement experience, where executors can manage, automate, and complete estate tasks with clarity.

Role Overview

We’re seeking a UX/UI Designer Intern (for college credit only) to join our team in January 2026. You’ll collaborate closely with our CTO (Ken) and founding team to transform complex estate workflows into clear, compassionate user experiences — designing the features our engineers will bring to life.

This is a 3–4 month internship that may lead to a part-time or full-time, equity-based role after completion.

What You’ll Work On

  • You’ll contribute to user-facing features that support real families:

  • Executor Task Experience – Visual clarity and usability for hundreds of legal and financial tasks

  • AI-Assisted Guidance – UI that simplifies decision-making and explains what's next

  • Document & Asset Organization – Intuitive data entry and retrieval for critical information

  • Accessibility & Inclusive Design – Interfaces that support users under emotional stress

  • Design System & Component Libraries – Scalable patterns that balance empathy and efficiency

  • You’ll have a strong voice — your designs will ship.

What You’ll Gain

  • Experience designing a product that delivers real human value

  • Collaboration with engineers who respect and prioritize strong UX

  • Mentorship in accessible, research-driven, emotionally sensitive design

  • Case studies you can proudly showcase to future employers

  • Practice with Agile product cycles and cross-functional teamwork

Preferred Skills & Tools

  • (Not required — we love developing great talent)

  • Figma expertise (wireframes, UI design, prototyping)

  • Visual design skills with focus on clarity, trust, and simplicity

  • UX research & user journey mapping

  • Comfort working within and evolving design systems

  • Bonus: Experience with component-based UI (React/Tailwind)

Who You Are

  • A current student eligible for college-credit internships

  • Empathetic and user-focused, especially toward people under stress

  • Curious, thoughtful, and eager to design for impact

  • Excited to help build innovative tech that genuinely improves lives

How to Apply

  • Email careers@endofanera.ai with the subject line: [Your Name] – UX/UI Designer Intern Application (College Credit)

  • Please include:

  • Your resume

  • A link to your Figma portfolio or case study

  • A short paragraph about which project area above excites you most and why

End of an Era is fixing that. We’re building an AI-powered, empathetic estate planning and settlement platform that simplifies both planning and settlement — helping people organize what matters while they’re alive, and guiding families through closure when they’re gone.

Security and privacy are core to our mission — we protect extremely sensitive personal, legal, and financial data so families can rely on our products when it matters most.

We’re about to launch the Planning side and are now building the Settlement experience, where executors can manage, automate, and complete estate tasks with clarity.

Role Overview

We’re seeking a Cybersecurity & AI Engineering Intern (College Credit Only) to join our team in January 2026 for a 3–4 month internship. You’ll work closely with the CTO, engineers, and product teams to help secure our AI pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and user-facing systems. This role is ideal for CS students who want to specialize in cybersecurity and AI while working on products that support grieving families and executors.

This internship may lead to continued part-time or full-time opportunities based on performance.

What You’ll Work On

  • You’ll contribute to security and AI work that directly protects users and product integrity, including:

  • Cloud & Infrastructure Security – Help secure Azure/AWS deployments, secrets management, and CI/CD pipelines

  • AI Pipeline Safety – Audit model inputs/outputs, harden inference endpoints, and implement data protections for sensitive content

  • Threat Detection & Monitoring – Build monitoring, alerting, and dashboards to detect anomalous behavior and attacks

  • Secure Integrations – Harden integrations with fintech APIs (Plaid/Finicity), document providers, and identity services

  • Encryption & Data Protection – Implement and review encryption-at-rest/in-transit, key rotation, and access controls

  • Incident Response & Playbooks – Support tabletop exercises, incident documentation, and post-incident analysis

What You’ll Gain

  • Hands-on experience securing a live, sensitive-data SaaS product

  • Mentorship from senior engineers and the CTO

  • Real exposure to AI safety practices, privacy-preserving engineering, and secure product design

  • Meaningful portfolio work that demonstrates secure engineering for compliance-sensitive environments

  • Practical experience with Agile teams, Git/GitHub workflows, and production deployments

Preferred Skills & Tools

  • (We hire for curiosity; not checking every box is fine.)

  • Languages & Scripting: Python, TypeScript/Node.js

  • Cloud & Infra: Azure or AWS, Docker, CI/CD pipelines

  • Security Concepts: IAM, OWASP Top 10, encryption, vulnerability scanning

  • AI & Data: Familiarity with ML model deployment, data anonymization, or LLM safety techniques

  • Tools: Git/GitHub, basic security tooling (Snyk, Dependabot, Trivy), logging/monitoring stacks

  • Bonus: experience with FinTech integrations, compliance (e.g., SOC2), or research in privacy-preserving ML

Who You Are

  • Currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related degree program that supports college-credit internships

  • Serious about protecting user privacy and eager to learn secure engineering practices

  • Detail-oriented, methodical, and responsible when handling confidential data

  • Comfortable working in a small, cross-functional startup team and balancing multiple priorities

  • Passionate about building trustworthy technology that helps people during vulnerable moments

How to Apply

  • Email careers@endofanera.ai with the subject line: [Your Name] – Cybersecurity & AI Engineering Intern Application (College Credit)

  • Please include:

  • Your resume (and GitHub/portfolio if available)

  • A short paragraph describing relevant experience or a security/AI project you’re proud of

  • Optional: any coursework or certifications related to security or AI
